Traditional coloring apps provide flat objects for children to paint. ToyBrush 3D takes the concept to the next level by letting them decorate three dimensional objects, using a method that is easy to understand and fun to try. The results can be amazing, unexpected, or hilarious, depending on your child's mood.
ToyBrush 3D was developed by Croco Studio for both IOS and Android devices. The app opens with a selection of 21 unpainted objects, including toys, robots, vehicles, food, and animals. Once your child chooses an object, it appears alongside a decorated version to show one finished possibility.
Have a look:
How the App Works-
The first step is to choose a base color, a difficult task considering there are 36 rainbow colors and 9 patterns from which to choose. You can paint the entire object one color, or each part can be different. Next come the decorations, which range from polka dots to emblems to flames. Last comes the addition of either people (if it's a vehicle) or facial features (if it's an animal). Because it's a 3D object, it's important to check all sides to be sure they get painted. At the top right is a brown "undo" arrow that erases the last addition, in case of a mistake. There is also a green "swivel" button that turns the object around automatically.
The button in the upper left corner returns the screen to the control page. From here it's possible to mute the background music, adjust the difficulty level, start over, take a picture of the finished object, or return to the home screen. As long as the app is closed on the page containing the current project, it can be saved for later. If you return to the home page, the project is deleted.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked-
As a successful developer of numerous preschool apps, Croco Studio knows a lot about graphic design and animation. One of the best features of Toy Brush 3D is the rotating pedestal that shows the object from front to back, as well as from top to sides. I also appreciate the toddler setting on the control page, which provides auto-rotation for beginners. The possibilities are endless and no two projects will ever look identical.
In a Nutshell-
This app does one thing, and it does it very well. This is a definite step up from the flat projects in other coloring apps. I always recommend that parents invest a few minutes to learn how to navigate around art and drawing apps before giving them to their children, because even though the app may be extremely well-designed, art apps have so many options that they can be overwhelming.
At the time of this review, Toy Brush 3D contains no ads, nor does it offer in app purchases (IAP). There is a link to the App Store that shows the other apps from this developer. Your child’s privacy is secure when using this app.
