As you can tell by the title, Fun with Colors is an app about colors- how they mix, how they make you feel, and how they make the world a more interesting place. It combines an original story with creative art activities, including interactive coloring pages and a space for individual expression, drawing, and experimentation with colors.
Fun with Colors is available for all IOS and Android devices, and comes from Bastei Entertainment. A link on the opening screen allows you to change the app settings. Gently tap and hold it to select translations into English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Turkish. It also contains a link for customer support and production credits. The volume control for the background music is located in the upper right hand corner, and right and left arrows help you turn the pages.
The story uses colors, of all things, as characters. I don't believe I've ever seen colors used in this way, but I think it speaks to the central role they play throughout the app. Each color has a unique shape, animation, and personality; so, for example, red is a squiggly worm that has his own ideas, white is the older, quiet one, that helps the others out, and yellow is a swirly shape that is definitely a show-off. Conflict develops and the colors start to bicker, but finally, black and white, older and wiser, help them realize that when they work together, something magical is created.
Fun with Colors also include two different art activities. The first one, marked by the paint brush, allows your child to draw simple shapes, lines, designs, or figures using the basic colors of the rainbow. The tool bar, located across the top, includes the color palette, as well as a home button, an eraser, a garbage can, and camera. The second activity, marked by the rainbow, is a selection of simple coloring pages that become animated once they are colored. The result is the corn starts popping, the strawberry becomes a helicopter, and the mushroom sneezes.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked-
Color is such an important part of a child's world, and it is one of the first things parents teach their children. What better way to learn about the beauty of color than with Fun with Color, a well-designed combination story and activity app. It provides the content of two separate apps in one.
