Otus Teacher is an all-in-one teacher clipboard. The app allows teachers to multi-task as they go about the daily paperwork aspect of the job. From taking attendance, to updating the gradebook, teachers can use Otus to get organized.
Otus by Synvata LLC has two versions, Otus Teacher and Otus Student. Teachers can use Otus Teacher as a paperless way of tracking, grading, even creating assignments. They can also use the app to do other tasks like take attendance or monitor participation. Teachers can also use this app as a pinboard for saving data and information. There is a lot this app can do.
Have a look:
After logging in, teachers begin by setting up their classes. Simply create a class and the app generates a unique code. Students with Otus Student enter the unique class code to join the class. Using the Classes button, teachers can monitor and keep data on participation, attendance, and recognition, as well as flag students with other pertinent notes. Teachers can create as many classes as needed.
There are a lot of other features available as well. Teachers can utilize the Bookshelf to store images or webpages for easy access, similar to an online bookmarking site. These can all be sorted and organized by folders, classes, or tags. In the Assessments tab, teachers can create assignments. Enter the basic identifying information, then choose options like randomize questions or answers, timed test, or allow hints. Then generate your test. Response options include short answer, true/false, multiple choice, or EdPen.
The app also features easy access to a web browser that pulls up google automatically. Use the split screen feature to search the web and manage your Google Drive. The Poll tool allows you to create free response, multiple choice, or true/false polls that are great for exit tickets. The app also features a nice help section and is planning on adding a blog and slideshow tool in the future.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
At first I was a little overwhelmed by how much this app can do. Honestly, this review has taken me a while to write because I wanted to try everything out. The more I use it, the more I like it. The customization aspects are just incredible. As a teacher, I am really enjoying moving away from traditional pencil and paper assessments. This app allows me to generate authentic assessments, and personalize them right within the app. I also really like the poll feature. I used this several time this week as an exit ticket to check my student’s learning. The app is truly huge, and I know I’m not utilizing every aspect that I could, but what I’ve used has been great. One thing I would like to see is the ability to add my own classes, instead of having the children sign up for the class. It’s a minor thing, but one that I’d like the freedom to manipulate.
Overall, Otus Teacher and Otus Student are a great combination for teachers looking to move to a paperless classroom or to follow the flipped classroom model. The online storage, quiz generation, and poll tools are really easy to use. I can’t wait to fully implement this next school year.

At the time of this review, the app had no ads or in-app purchases. It does allow access to the Internet, but is a tool built for teachers.
