Leo's Pad: Preschool Kids Learning Series is a collection of appisodes focusing on early learning skills and geared toward children aged 3-6. Each appisode plays like an interactive video. Joining familiar characters Leo (a young Leonardo DaVinci) and his dragon, Cinder, users meet a new friend Fusch (a young Confucius). The friends set off to find the Wishing Fish after reading about him in a storybook.
Have a look:
After selecting Appisode 5, the high quality video begins. Children get to watch and participate first in a fireworks show put on by Fusch. By tapping on colors and shapes, the user gets to explode the fireworks. Users again help the boys by helping to select books that start with specific letter sounds. After finding the story of the Wishing Fish, players think about and draw both their own and Cinder’s wishes as we remember the things that Cinder likes. After deciding to set out to find the Wishing Fish, help the boys build steps and a ladder to cross the river. Then all that’s left is to catch the Wishing Fish.
This app features adaptive gameplay. This means that the activities adjust to give users an experience that is just right for them. Parents can monitor their child’s skills using the Parent’s Pad. Here caregivers can see updates on their child and view progress in areas like Figure Stuff Out, Control Yourself, and Be Creative. Parents can also gather more specific data on the skills that the child is practicing like color and shape recognition, letter sounds, and problem solving.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
I’ll be completely honest and tell you that every appisode from Leo’s Pad has earned a TOP PICK from me. As I watch my son interact with the wide variety of early learning skills and listen to him as he sings along to the songs, I love the apps more and more. The skills are perfect for children just beginning to learn basic concepts and extend to those for children beginning to acquire learning strategies. The adaptive gameplay means that if my son gets something wrong, the game adjusts to help him find success, and equally if he gets them right, the game continues to challenge him. This feature makes the app great for children at any learning level. The Parent’s Pad is one of the most comprehensive data collection systems I’ve seen. I love that it collects data not just on the specific skill, but on more general concepts like self-control and creativity. The status update feature that tells things like “Child increased physical routine skills” or “Child has decreased in color recognition” is an easy way for me to see what my son has been up to. Additionally, I think that the fact the whole series is based on the child versions DaVinci, Gallileo, Curie, and Confucious is just brilliant. Have I mentioned that the image and video quality is television-esque? It’s just Cooltacular!
Overall, Leo’s Pad – Appisode 5 is another outstanding TOP PICK from developer Kidaptive Inc., as both a fun and educational app. Its stunning animation, adaptive gameplay, and focus on both specific early learning skills and basic concept ideas make it an essential app for parents and teachers of early learners. I know it will join the other four appisodes as favorites in our house.
