Conojo Whiteboard was developed by VizMojo Labs for the iPad. Like most productivity apps, it gives you lots of tools with which to be creative. There are shape tools (circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles), arrows, lines (thin to thick), text tools (with multiple fonts and sizes from 8 point to 200 point), and background patterns. It also has a couple of unique features not usually found in other sketching apps, include voice-over recording, photo import capability, and drawing tutorials. Additional business-themed template collections are available as in-app purchases, but these are of limited use in the school environment. Projects created by Conojo Whiteboard are easily linked to Evernote, Facebook, or Dropbox.
Using Conojo Whiteboard is a lot easier for educators and students who have some experience with whiteboard apps. The set up is pretty standard. As far as its user interface, it is intuitive and clearly laid out. Onto the blank screen, it is possible to add drawings, charts, explanations, questions, and comments (in both text form and audio form). The toolbar slides in and out from the left side of the screen for ease of access. Editing is a little tricky with this app, however; the “undo” button does not simply erase the most recent activity; it deletes everything on the page. For more strategic changes, I used the Eraser tool on the toolbar. It is possible to save multiple projects, which is great since no teacher or student is ever working on just one project at a time. I would recommend watching the tutorials in order to become familiar with all the features of Conojo Whiteboard.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked-
I think sketching and whiteboard apps like Conojo Whiteboard will increase in value as they adapt to include specific education-related functionality. Interactive and collaborative project-based learning is becoming the norm in secondary schools around the world. Technology is helping shape the way information is presented and shared. This tool can help teachers and students transfer knowledge back and forth with one another.
In order for Conojo Whiteboard- Interactive Whiteboard Drawing Tool to become more useful in the educational market, it will need to make its customer support more user-friendly. I submitted a question on the website, but the response was not sufficient to solve my issue. Also, the developer will need to create a set of templates that are education specific, including T-charts, Venn diagrams, and vocabulary analysis maps, among others. Conojo Whiteboard shows promise; we’ll watch for improvements related to this app if they become available.
