With the abundance of Spanish classes being offered in schools today, there is a significant need to apply technology to improve the learning process. Verb Challenge Spanish is a new app that provides traditional verb conjugation exercises in a fast paced game format. Its comprehensive content and age-neutral settings make it perfect for both primary and intermediate level Spanish language learners age 6-12.Fun Educational Apps TOP PICKS
Verb Challenge Spanish was developed by Chido Games, and is available for all IOS devices (including iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch). The app itself is arranged in the same way as other educational apps, with multiple levels of play. Lower levels are easier and higher levels are more challenging.
The app includes five of the most common Spanish verb tenses (present, indefinite, future, imperfect, and conditional) and includes both regular and irregular verb forms. In each level, the student is required to combine three color-coded blocks to make a correctly formed phrase. Each blue block contains a Spanish pronoun (Yo, Tu, Ella, etc.), each yellow block contains a common Spanish verb (cambi-, habla-, escrib- ), and each red block has a verb ending that matches one of the pronouns (-a, -amos, -o).
For example, Yo + habl + o ("Yo hablo") is a correct combination and earns points, but Yo + habl + an is incorrect. In order to pass each level, the child must earn a predetermined number of points.
It is important to think carefully but quickly, because the rows of blocks move down one step on the screen every 10 seconds, so they eventually disappear at the bottom and are replaced by a new row at the top. Two other useful features are a complete conjugation list for over 60 Spanish verbs and an option to create a customized practice list using verbs you select.
Note: Verb Challenge Spanish is specifically designed as practice for students who have received previous instruction in Spanish grammar. It is not intended to provide beginning language instruction.

Experts know that repetition of verb forms is critical for learning a new language. The approach taken by Verb Challenge Spanish is a big improvement over boring drills, and using it will improve a students’ fluency. ABOUT Chido Games:
We developed Verb Challenge Spanish with only one goal in mind: making the best game ever for learning how to conjugate in Spanish!
To do so, we left flash-cards and multiple choice-like game mechanics behind. Verb challenge Spanish is a real and engaging game, not a series of boring multiple choice exercises disguised as a game.
This game was designed by the linguist and game designer Alberto Ramirez with the help of three doctors in linguistics from the Public University of Queretaro, Mexico: Monica Sanaphre, Luisa Josefina Alarcón and Adriana Medellín.
