100 Zoo Animals - Elephants, Giraffes, Lions and More is a photo app with 100 gorgeous photos of zoo animals to share with your little one. Labeled images are scrollable and searchable in this large database of beautiful images.
Developer 100 Things has compiled a beautiful collection of images featuring nearly 100 animals. Unique images of animals from the African Lion to the Zebra are featured. While there are 100 photos, a few of the more popular animals have several different photos - lions, polar bears, and the sloth bear are a sampling of those repeated.
This is app is super easy to use, with users simply tapping the play button to begin. From there, simply swipe left or right to get to the next full screen, beautifully optimized photo. Images capture animals resting, eating, and going about their daily lives. To search or select a specific animal, users can tap the arrow with the three dots to choose from an alphabetized list and thumbnail list of the animals. Each image is labeled with the name of the animal at the bottom and tapping on the picture elicits the animal noise. Though in some cases, it's hard to tell what the animal noise is amongst the background noise.
I love animals. I channel my inner child when it comes to looking at pictures of animals. The images in this app are just brilliant. I love the close up, detailed pictures of animals like the iguana and seriema. (Who knew about the blue feathers around the eyes!) As a visual app, it's truly great. I enjoyed some of the animal sounds, but had trouble with the background noise in some and didn't like that I could actually hear people talking and pans banging in a few of the sound clips. The audio seemed a bit cluttered to me.
Overall, 100 Zoo Animals is a collection of beautiful images of animals. This simple app shows just the images accompanied by a sometimes garbled audio clip. It'd be good for young kids who just like to look at animal photos, but doesn't have the information or learning I would prefer for older children.
