There are so many alphabet apps available that developers must make their app unique for it to stand out among the crowd. Talking ABC is a great example of how a letter app can make a great impression. Experience the alphabet through a world of claymation animals that entertain and teach.Fun Educational Apps - Unique ABC APP!
Talking ABC, by developer Jutiful, is a unique, interactive alphabet app that will engage young learners with its bright colors and high interest animals. Experience letters and sounds through great clay animation that is cleverly done. Test your knowledge with a few games as well.
The app opens with the choice of exploring the alphabet, games, autoplay, or settings. Within the settings menu, users can select to learn the alphabet in letters or sounds, have the animals talk or not, or adjust the puzzle level from normal to easy.
The main component of the app is the alphabet laid out letter by letter. Each letter is created in various colors of clay. Tap the letter and through great claymation, the letter balls up and reforms as an animal for that letter. Each animal has some small animations and when spoken to, repeats what you say in a cute little voice. Holding the screen in portrait mode shows just the letter and animal, but rotating to landscape shows the letter and the rest of the alphabet for easy navigation. From here you can also activate the alphabet song.
The games section has four little games to test your knowledge. Letters is a letter quiz where children select the correct letter from a choice of six. Animals is the same style quiz - only testing knowledge of animals. Funny Words is a cute typing activity. Type in any word or name, and the app creates that word using the clay alphabet and animals. Tap or swipe the letters to turn them into animals and share your words with your friends. Puzzle features nine images of animals where users tap twelve squares to rotate them to complete the puzzle.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
This is a great alphabet app that is different from the others we've used. (And let's face it, with a preschooler, I've got lots of ABC apps!) The claymation is really well done and fun. The animals are super cute and the tiny animations make them seem realistic. I also liked the variety of animals - X for Xiphias and Y for Yeti. The games are also a great way to quiz your child's knowledge of letters. I loved that if they selected the wrong answer, the letter simply crumples into a ball of clay. The Funny Words section was also unique. We spent a lot of time typing in names to see what animals were in everyone's name. That might be a fun way to test older kids. Type in words, change them to animals and then see if they can figure out what the word is.
Overall, Talking ABC is a unique app that is fun for everyone to play with. The claymation is super cute and the games reinforce the learning that occurs in the bulk of the app. This is a great addition to any parent's collection of alphabet apps and one that I'm glad is in ours.
