With the evolution of modern technology our kids are entering the digital world! It sounds fun and cool to stay in touch and chat with friends … but are our kids always aware of the danger they can encounter online?
I know schools in Scotland’s are doing a great job to help increase kids awareness but as parents we need to make sure we pass on the message at home. Posting picture and post about you personal life sounds great, but how many kids realize that all these info are online to stay forever!
To help you approach the subject and help raise your kids awareness, Common Sense Media has release a great app Digital Passport for Kids - to teach kids aged 7 to 11 the essentials for staying safe online and responsible online!
Digital Passport for Kids offers a way for kids to learn important lessons about digital life via games and activities. Going over this great educational app, your kids learn about passwords, Cyberbullying, Privacy, Communication, Creative Credit and search. When kids have completed all levels, they earn a Digital Passport to online safety!

As our kids become more independent and older we, as parent, cannot control every aspect of their digital world. We keep and eye but instead of controlling every aspect I like it better to take a proactive approach and help them be aware of the danger and teach them how to be responsible and safe online. Digital Passport for Kids is a well designed tool that uses a combination of videos and games to engage kids. It offers a great way to raise awareness especially to those that start to go online independently by showing real live example from kids their age.
As parent, you can check your kids progress via the report card. You know they got the info to stay safe … BUT now it’s up to you to communicate with your kids, establish a dialog and make sure they are aware!
Overall, Digital Passport for Kid is a much need app to help and support parents and carers raise kids awareness of the dangers children can encounter online. It uses a combination of videos and game to catch kids attention and engage them. A definite must to help protect your kids online and the prefect app for the youngest ones that are just entering the digital world!
