Explaining weather and time to children can be confusing, but with this new app, Weather and Clock for Kids, it is possible to teach them these concepts in a way that they can understand. Its unique approach is unlike anything else you will find in the App Store.
What the App Does-
Weather and Clock for Kids by Kidoteca provides real time information about the time and the weather. There are no ads and no additional purchases to make, making this app totally safe for your child to use. Right around age four or five, children become interested in time. This app is designed to allow kids to explore the concepts of time and weather, using authentic information presented in a format that is both appealing and clear.
The main screen displays typical sights and sounds that can be activated by touch. At the center of the scene is a little mouse that is dressed appropriately for the time of day and the weather. Sometimes, he’s wearing a parka, while other times, he’s in pajamas or a swimsuit. He’s always holding up his little temperature sign, though. Touch his tummy and he’ll tell you what it says. The radio and the television turn on and off. The fire in the fireplace goes out and comes back on. Even the picture window opens up to show the weather outside. All these activities are 100% kid-controlled.
On the Settings page, you can choose from among four different languages- Portuguese, English, French, and Russian. You can also select for Fahrenheit or Celsius temperature readings. In the lower right hand corner, you can even choose a setting for different locations around the world.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked-
One of my favorite apps on my iPad is the World Clock, because I have friends and relatives living in faraway places. Being able to see what kind of weather they are having and knowing what time it is for them brings them a little closer. The same could be true for Weather and Clock for Kids.
Little touches of humor can be seen throughout the app. The alligator’s tail acts as a pendulum on the clock. The items on the table get used up or eaten when you touch them, and then magically reappear or are replaced with new items the next time. Kids will find the switch amusing.
Conclusion-
The developer of Weather and Clock for Kids has discovered a way to used real time information and pinpoint weather forecasting to show children how important these facts can be. You should be aware that an Internet connection is required to access current meteorological data. Consider purchasing Weather and Clock for Kids if your child is ready to learn about weather and time.
