Touch the Thing (TTT): Interactive Vocabulary App Builder for Toddlers!
Touch the Thing (TTT) is geared toward the younger ages (aged 1-5). Given eleven different scenes (a living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, classroom, jungle, farm, river, fruits and vegetables, a busy street, and a face) the player touches items to interact with them. With simple touch and respond animations, the app is perfect for the new iPad explorer. Each item has its own animation and states its name.
This app is unique in its variety of languages to choose from. Parents can choose one of ten languages to practice vocabulary in: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Persian, Turkish, Arabic, or Chinese. As a language learning app, this has a lot to offer those young minds eager to soak up new words, in both the native language and in foreign languages.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
As a vocabulary builder, this app is great. The navigation is really easy to use and will help young players to move through scenes independently. The graphics are beautiful and with so many hidden touch and animate objects, players will be engaged during the experience. A pleasant narrator states each vocabulary word in the language of your choice as the item is tapped. I can see this being a great way to expose young players to different languages. With high interest and familiar scenes, kids will enjoy hearing about familiar items in foreign languages.
Overall, this is a great vocabulary building app for young players. The app is simple enough to use for kids as young as 18 months, but with the additional language components, could easily be used by kids in primary grades learning foreign languages. Cute animations and graphics will keep your young learner engaged in a vocabulary rich setting.
TTT or Touch the Thing is available for download via the iTunes App Store - Universal App
