To start simply select a sock or glove from the 20 available and the app takes your children to the workshop. Each puppet has its own name but all can be renamed just by tapping on its name and typing a new one! In the workshop, kids can select a pre-set background or use their own picture from the camera roll. Using the side bar menu kids add eyes, hair, nose, and mouth using a wide selection of buttons, strands, and ornament. Creating a virtual puppet is easy! Select a puppet; decorate with the impressive number if items. Each item can be resized, rotated or filliped using the icons on the top of screen or by using the pinch function with two fingers. Name and save it and your kids are ready to create a new one!

We always like creative apps that manage to encourage and develop kids creativity and I must say that Puppet Workshop is a top favourite at our house. The kids loved its ease of use, the stunning graphics and all the interactive features available. One of the top features is that all items can be resized, rotated or flipped using your fingers or the buttons on the top of the screen for a more precise adjustment and positioning, an ideal feature for kids with limited fine motor skills! Another great feature is the customisable background where you can even add your own pictures. The kids had fun taking different pictures and setting their puppet there.
Puppet Workshop opens the door to creativity! It is so easy to use that there is no limit to your kids’ creativity. Each puppet can be customized and decorated using the side menu bar using tap and drag function. The app automatically saves your kids progress, so if for some reason your kids stop in the middle, the next time they use the app they will find their puppet where they left off. Once happy with a creation simply give it a name, take a picture and save it.
Just a note to the developer – the kids here would love it if you can add an undo button with the next update!!
Overall, Puppet Workshop is great for all ages that allows kids to create and use their imagination ... a definite TOP PICK for Fun Educational Apps. It is very well designed, kids friendly, easy to use and the musical brings a little something extra to keep the kids engaged. Puppet Workshop might give additional ideas to your kids … so watch out when they put down the iPad and start looking for gloves or socks in your house … they will take their creative skills to another level!
