I Need My Monster - Top Interactive Storybook app for Kids Review

I Need My Monster

I Need My Monster is a brand new story book and app and a top pick for readers looking for an interactive experience.  With high quality graphics, a cute story line, and a plot that appeals to those of us still thinking about the monsters under our own beds, this story is sure to delight.

Fun Educational Apps TOP PICKS

I Need My Monster by Y.P.L. Yedioth Publishing Licensing  tells the story of a little boy whose regular monster under the bed, Gabe, has gone fishing.  Knowing he won't be able to sleep without the fear of a monster nibbling on his toes - because really, who would be able to - the boy explores some new monsters.  From a monster who has only ever read up on the subject of scaring children, to a monster with painted nails, the characters of the story are complex and unique.  Each monster that comes to stay under the bed is just not the right fit.  They don't have the right claws, they don't have the right tail, or they are girl monsters.  Everyone knows that boys need boy monsters and girls need girl monsters!  Will the boy ever get to sleep without his own monster hiding under the bed?

The interactive components of this app are great, too.  With just one or two small things to do on each page, the interactions don't detract from the story.  The animations that are hidden within each page are great though!  From simple turning the bedside lamp on and off to tapping the boy to see his reaction to each monster, the expressions are wonderful.  The animations from the monsters are also top-notch.  One monster has you scratching his nails along a chalkboard while another lets you change his lips, hair, or necklace.  There's even a page where the reader can tilt the iPad to get an up close and personal look at Gabe's tail.  Combined with the high quality graphics, the animations are just icing on the cake.

What Fun Educational Apps Liked

This app is just a joy to read with your child.  Monsters are such a high interest topic for children, and this app does a great job of creating an engaging story.  The graphics and animations are beautiful and something children age three and up will enjoy.  With options to have the story read aloud by a narrator who uses a different voice for each monster, or to read the story to themselves, the app gives readers a choice of delivery.    Additionally, the app has two games associated with it.  There is a matching game with three levels (the number of cards to match changes with each level).  Players must match different pictures from scenes in the story.  There is also a Follow Me game, where players must listen to monsters make noises and tap the monsters in the right order.  So not only is the story outstanding, it's even got games to entertain the kids!

I Need My Monster 3  I Need My Monster 4

Overall, this app is a top pick for its outstanding illustrations and story line.   The animations and interactions are engaging and fun.  From the small details like the letters all roaring on the title page, to the deliciously slimy puddle of ooze spilling from under the bed, every little thing about this app is enjoyable.  It was the immediate pick for tonight's bedtime story.

I Need My Monster - Interactive Children's Book App is avaialbe for download via the iTunes App Store - Universal App
