In the learning module, there are many examples of each of the three types of rocks- igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Also included is a portion devoted to common minerals and their properties. In the practice module, challenges include sorting by category, puzzles, questions, and naming pictures. The quiz module provides an assessment of the student’s knowledge of rocks and minerals, giving them immediate feedback on the accuracy of their recall. Here are some sample questions: Which rock is a foliated/banded rock? a) marble b) pegmatite c) quartzite d) slate. What type of sedimentary rock forms when the minerals come out of a solution and crystallize?
a) clastic rock b) chemical rock c) organic rock.

I was impressed by the amount of information in the learning module. If a student were to need specific and detailed information about a particular rock, chances are, he could find it here. Along with identifying rocks, students will also begin to learn the principles of rock classification.
Note - Although this app is very informative, we need to point out that it does contain numerous grammar and spelling errors.
