SoGaBee's Math Facts Fun is a cute game where the user plays as Robot, Dino, or Sophie. Choose
one of three games: Flash Card, Multiple Choice, or Fill In. From there choose addition, subtraction,
multiplication, or division. Next pick the level you want to practice from one to twelve. At the beginning
of the game, only the first three levels of each operation are unlocked. Players can unlock levels by
mastering earlier fact tables.
Fact Tables is a flash card app, where students answer math facts in their heads - no input needed here.
If they get stuck, show the answer for practice. There is a quiz mode to turn on or off. With the quiz
mode off, the flash cards show both the problem and the answer. With quiz mode on, students aren't
shown the answer unless they hit the show answer button.
Multiple Choice is just what it says. After being shown a math fact, students are shown four multiple choice answers on an apple tree. If the student answers correctly a piece of their chosen character (Dino, Robot, or Sophie) is put in place - kind of a like a reverse hangman. Only you fill in the character with correct answers.
Fill In is similar to the Multiple Choice game. The student is shown a math fact and has to input the answer into the calculator. Like the previous game, if the student answers correctly, a piece of their character is filled in.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
To begin with the app is engaging and fun. With three different games, it provides enough variety to
keep kids engaged. What the teacher in me likes the best though are the two customizable features.
The app has a Custom Levels area where an adult can go in and select which operations and number
tables a student will practice. This makes in particularly useful for teachers looking to differentiate
practice for students to focus on skills they need to practice most. Besides that, the app monitors
wrong answers and keeps track of Tricky Problems. In the Custom Levels section, the parent or teacher
can choose to have students practice Tricky Problems in each operation. Students must answer Tricky
Problems correctly three times to remove them from the list. This app provides great customizable
activities.
Overall, this app is great for parents looking to have their children practice math facts at home, or for teachers looking to have students practice specific facts. The three different games provide different ways for kids to practice math facts, also giving them three different ways to show mastery of their calculation skills.
