Mindshape, a leader for top, fun, engaging and educational apps for kids has just announced more free apps for a limited time in order to celebrate the new update of Magic Town. Magic Town is the first virtual world based on popular picture book characters. In both the website and iPad app, children visit the big tree and houses in the town to discover stories, games and puzzles. There are fables, fairy tales, digital firsts and well-known series licensed from top publishers. The stories are presented as Livebooks™, Magic Town's proprietary, interactive story format.
London, United Kingdom - Mindshapes is celebrating the update of the Magic Town app for iPad with a series of promotions. The Magic Town app, which is an interactive world based on popular picture books, is permanently free to download. And now, for a limited time, several Mindshapes apps are free as well. Children will enjoy Lingo Zoo, Tap a Tune, Jellytoons Toddler Skills and Jack and the Beanstalk.
Both the Magic Town app for iPad and the website are designed for children aged 2 to 6 years old. Children can read and play either independently or with an adult. There are more than 100 stories, or "Livebooks," to choose from. And since the app's June debut, children from more than 180 countries have read hundreds of thousands of Livebooks.
The updated Magic Town app maximizes the iPad's technical capabilities. When children visit the home page, they can "build" their own version of the town by dragging and dropping the characters' houses on the landscape. Parents will also enjoy the enhanced Bookshop where they can browse all of the Livebooks and watch preview videos.
Mindshapes created the Livebook format in close collaboration with child development experts including Professor Paul Harris at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The Livebook format is designed to use storytelling to stimulate children's imagination, reasoning, social skills and language development.
The other Mindshapes apps are also educational. Tap a Tune teaches toddlers music appreciation. Jellytoons focuses on toddler skills like counting and shape and color recognition. Lingo Zoo demonstrates animal names in Spanish and English. And Jack and the Beanstalk is the classic tale with a modern twist.
