Sakura Quick Math is a new innovative math app perfect for kids aged 8 to 12 to improve their arithmetic fluency. When you open the app, simply select Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division or a mix of all. Select your level - 3 choices: Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced ... And 3-2-1 your kids are all set to go! 

 

 There are 20 questions to answer and to do so, use your finger or stylus to handwrite the answer!

 

 

 If your kids get it right, the next question displays. If they don’t .... They can keep on trying as much as they want .. And if they really don’t know they can decide to skip the question.

That’s it ... Once done, kids can see their progress! 

 

What Fun Educational Apps Liked!

 

Sakura Quick Math is a really great math app. It is simple and straightforward, yet it caught all my kids attention and they went on doing math practice for a long time!  As many other math apps, Sakura Quick Math allows kids to practice either addition, subtraction, division, multiplication or a mix of all four via three different levels - Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced. What makes it different and stand out is that kids handwrite the answer! There is no multiple choice answer, no typing or sliding numbers ... Just writing down the numbers with their fingers or stylus as they would with a pen and paper.  Challenging? Yes, as each time kids try to improve their time

 

Kids might need to practice a bit at the beginning but we found  advanced handwriting recognition quite accurate. Few numbers required a bit of practice. If kids want to go as fast as possible, they still need to trace the numbers correctly, the way it should be! If you are from a country like France where you write the 7 with a dash, you will be happy to know that via the preference menu you can select which 7 you want to use. Really liked that!!! 

 

Another great  feature is that there is no penalty for wrong answers, kids can keep on trying to find the right answer and give as many guesses as they want. They can also decide to skip the answer (and if they do make sure to watch the Score board at the end of the round!) Having multiple guesses or skipping questions will for sure take more time, but at the end kids see a time. We liked that the app only tells the kids the time it took them to complete 20 questions. For my kids it as a great motivation, and they just wanted to keep on going to improve their time!  Not the correct number of answers! 

 

 

For added challenge, kids can get their time on the Game Center board and compete against friends or siblings! 

 

The only feature we would like to see added in the next update is a multiplayer option, a must if you have more than one kid using the app.

 

Overall, Sakura Quick Math is a straight forward math apps where kids improve their  fluency in arithmetic, the beauty is the advanced handwriting recognition that makes it unique. Simple, easy to use, interactive interface, great design ...and one math app that my kids could not put down .... You guessed right A Fun Educational apps TOP PICKS!
