2 Tigers is a new animated storybook app by developer 33 Loretta Kids' Books LLC. Exploring the theme of sibling rivalry and all the emotions that go along with it, a little tiger tells the familiar story of her big sister. Available for both iPhone and iPad, this cute interactive story is an entertaining story that will hit home with many siblings.
Starring younger sister Delilah, 2 Tigers tells the story of Delilah and her older sister Sophie. In true sibling form, a note of jealousy leaks through as Delilah tells of all the things Sophie can do. From riding her bike to riding the bus, Sophie can do all the things that Delilah can't. The story continues with a description of other things that Delilah cannot do. In a sweet twist, Delilah also tells us what she can do and about the nice things Sophie does that show she loves her sister. This storyline will be familiar to any set of siblings.
Additionally, each page of the story has a fun animation. With orange marks to show where to touch, the app guides the reader through the interactive pages easily. The reader simply hits some objects, but can drive and swipe other objects. The variety of interactions keep the reader engaged. Going to the next page is an easy tap of the arrow button.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked:
This app has a cute story line and will resonate with siblings. Its two options for a read aloud or to read to yourself caters to different levels of reading independence. You can also have the story read aloud in English or Spanish. The teacher in me liked that as the story is read aloud, the words are highlighted as they are read. This will allow young readers to easily track the text. Plus, each animation is different, engaging the reader on an interactive level. A warning to parents out there - my son's favorite animation was the booger page!
Overall, this app will be a cute addition to an interactive eLibrary. The storyline will be familiar to siblings and may help teach a valuable lesson if used in conjunction with good conversation. The animations are simple, but keep the reader engaged. If you are looking for a solid story book app, 2 Tigers would be a good one to add to your collection.
