Slibby the Snail Adventures - Top Storybook App

The Adventures of Slibby the Snail The Stolen Food Slibby the Snail Adventures is a top story book app created by developer CoolAsh Studio. Developed with versions for both iPad or iPhone/iPod, this cute story integrates reader participation, nice graphics, and a fun story line. It's sure to keep the reader engaged. Fun Educational App Top Favourite!!!

The Adventures of Slibby the Snail The Stolen Food 1Slibby the Snail Adventures opens to a menu with the option to have the story read aloud, or read it to yourself. Additionally, one can access other apps by the developer and a help page on the main menu. The story itself features Slibby a techni-colored snail and friend to all. We discover that Slibby's friends the ants have had all of their food stolen. Slibby heads off to investigate the lost food, making a new friend along the way.

While the storyline is simple, it is fully engaging. To get to the next page, the reader must participate in the story. From collecting the ants, to blowing leaves out of the tree's mouth, to swiping the clouds out of the way, the reader must help Slibby along on his adventure. Each transition activity is different and fun. The reader must pay attention to the story to find out what to do. He or she may be asked to solve a puzzle, launch Slibby on a leaf, or even answer a few comprehension questions at the end of the story. By changing up the activities, the reader stays completely engaged in the story.

What Fun Educational Apps Liked:

The Adventures of Slibby the Snail The Stolen Food 2The wide range of interactive activities makes this app a top pick. Each transition has a new type of activity to do. A few of my favorites were find the differences in the pictures, blowing the leaves away from the old tree, and matching flowers to find the grasshopper's home. I also really liked that at the end of the story there were three simple comprehension questions. As a teacher, I really like that the app holds the reader responsible for paying attention. The story tells the reader what to do to help, and if the reader isn't paying attention, he or she can't advance to the next page. Additionally, the story has a nice message about making good choices and being a good friend.

Overall, this is a top story book app. It fully engages the reader by making the reader a participant in the story. From collecting the lost food to navigating a maze to get Slibby home again, the app is full of different activities. It is a story that parents can be comfortable handing to a child for independent play. It is also a story that makes a great addition to your interactive book library. It has quickly become a favorite at our house.
