Math Ocean is a fun math app. It is well designed, bright, colourful, interactive and engaging. The ocean theme is ideal for summer practice!
Math Ocean lets your kids practice their math skills via a kids’ friendly and engaging interface. It uses words problems, visuals, animation and interactive features to engage and reward kids as they learn. It stands out from other math apps in the sense that it uses word problems such as: "If 3 penguins jump in the water, how many are left" or "if two more fish arrive, how many in the ocean". Kids can read the problems on screen and listen to the audio. From there kids can tap on the correct answer or use the visuals ... For example, with the subtraction activity, when kids tap on the penguin, they watch them jump in the water and see how many are left.
All the actives are fun, educational and engaging and allow kids to practice all the basic math skills to improve their math proficiency. Easy to use you can play with your kids to reinforce learning and guide them and your kids can also explore on their own. It offers an intuitive interface and all instructions are spoken. Note for parents. Once in the activity, if you want to get back to the main menu you can do so by tapping the cloud on the right hand corner! Nice touch to hide the “Menu button”, it prevents kids from exiting the activity but might let you wonder how to go back to the menu!
Although we really like the concept , Fun Educational Apps thinks that Math Ocean would gain a lot to improve the audio features and make the link to Facebook less accessible to children.
Overall, Math Ocean is a great math app that supports kids’ math learning. It allows kids to practice addition, subtraction, sorting, pattern and shape recognition via a fun game play along with musical background… And, if you are looking for a well rounded apps using math word problem then you should check out Math Ocean!
