AtPlayMusic Recorder: Top New Musical App for Kids!

AtPlayMusic Recorder

AtPlayMusic Recorder is a new top music app from new developers AtPlayMusic. Looking to learn more about the recorder, or rather, looking to help your kids master the recorder? This app is an in-depth tool to teach a beginner the basics of playing the recorder. By the end of the first lesson, musicians will be able to play two songs. Fun Educational Apps TOP PICK!

AtPlayMusic Recorder 4This app is incredibly well designed and the developers have obviously spent a lot of time creating a quality music app. AtPlayMusic Recorder is an instructional app, teaching the user how to play the recorder. Begin by creating your avatar and personalizing your clothes, hair, shoes, and accessories. When finished, head off to your lesson with Mr. Noteworthy.

Mr. Noteworthy is your personal music teacher for the lesson. Begin by trying to spin a pinwheel by blowing into your own recorder. Once you've given your recorder a try, Mr. Noteworthy teaches all of the parts of the recorder, both inside and out. Label and put each piece together correctly. The lesson moves on to hand and finger placement. The instructions are very detailed. If you need more help, you can pause the lesson at any point and manipulate the screen 360 degrees to get a different view of the hand placements. The lesson continues through correct posture, mouth formation, breath control, and how to fix common mistakes.

Once you've got the basics, the lesson introduces you to separating your notes, playing whole, half, and quarter notes, and teaches you the notes G, A, and B. Through a series of games, play along with the lesson to learn the songs Hot Cross Buns and Mary Had a Little Lamb. By the end of the first lesson, you'll be able to play these two songs and will have mastered the left hand placement on the recorder.

What Fun Educational Apps Liked:

AtPlayMusic Recorder 3This app is an extensive instructional tool if you are looking to learn the recorder. The attention to detail and clear instructions make it evident that the developers know what they are doing. I love that the app immediately personalizes the experience by having the user create their own avatar. From there the lesson is just incredible. I love that Mr. Noteworthy is really clear in his instructions and often repeats or clarifies his instructions. The interaction between the user and the lesson is easy and engaging. Beware that while the app does register you playing the recorder, it does not check your note accuracy. Though while playing the songs, it's evident if you don't have the correct notes. I also loved that you can pause the lesson to change the view at any time. The app is fully 3D and the graphics look great. The similarity to a traditional video game is not lost on the player. It serves to create an instructional app that is fun and engaging for any age.

Overall, this app is a top pick in instructional music apps. It's clarity, quality, and intricate design make it an outstanding educational tool. Having absolutely no musical talent, I was pleased to hear my own rendition of Mary Had a Little Lamb at the end of the first lesson. As of right now, the developer only has Lesson One finished. I'm anxious to see what Lesson Two and the additional apps AtPlayMusic has planned have to offer, because AtPlayMusic Recorder was a superstar in my book.

AtPlayMusic Recorder is available for download via the iTunes App Store: iPad App
