What Fun Educational Apps Liked
Division for kids is a great app to learn and practice division. One of the kids at Fun Educational Apps was the perfect candidate to try it. He has been struggling with long division with remainders, and was not confident in working out all the steps required. The practice mode was a great help for him! It is very well designed and gives children a problem to solve and lead them toward the solution.
If for example, kids need to solve 13 984 divided by 16, the app will ask your kids the following:
- "How many time does 16 goes into 139” and children need to write the answer in the white box
- What is 16 times 8 … write the answer
- What is “139 – 128 … write the answer
- Now bring down 8
- How many times does 16 goes into 118 …
- What is 7 times 16…
- What is “118 – 122” …
- Now bring down 4
- How many times does 16 goes into 64
- What is “64 -64”
Once your kids get to the solution, the app says and displays the answer. Note also that in order for kids to know what is what, Division for kids will write: 13 984 (Dividend) / 16 (Divisor) = 874 (Quotient)
It all makes it clear and simple for the kids to follow using visual and audio.
The test mode is great for the kids to solve division using the times tables. Kids need to unlock all the levels, to do so, for each level they need to answer correctly at least 7 out of 10. Note, there is no timer, so kids can focus and go at their on pace. All is done using mental calculation ... If needed, make sure make sure they have a jotter and a pen next to them just in case they need to write it down.
Overall, Division for Kids is a great math app to practice division. It is simple and well designed to help kids learn all the required steps to deal with long division. Fun Educational Apps would highly recommend to kids just starting learning about division as well as the more advance who need extra help to understand the process for long division. It can be used as often as you want as each time your kids solve new problems! The free version gives you a chance to try it and see if it can benefit your kids. If it does ... then you can decide to get the full version via in-app purchase.
