Starting a new language can be tricky sometimes, especially Chinese where you really need to learn how to write since the signs are completely different. Easy Chinese – I Write Chinese is a very easy to use app for iPad that teaches you step by step or should I say “stroke by stroke and direction by direction”.
Opening the app you find 12 categories, including basic vocabulary for numbers, size, family, food, colours and a lot more. Each topic offers a set of words and the corresponding characters you need to write the word. Each time there are 17 single characters and 5 samples of compound words.
Learning each character is easy. It displays with the phonetic “pin yin” system with Chinese audio and an audio translation in English, French and Spanish. To make the learning easy, each stoke is numbered so you learn how to trace them in the right order.
Easy Chinese – I Write Chinese offers a total of 205 single characters and 70 example of compound words. Easy to use, it makes learning how to write Chinese simple and fun.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
Easy Chinese – I Write Chinese is a great learning app for all those that are starting to learn Chinese. It offers an easy way to learn how to draw each character and shows you step by step. We liked the fact that each stroke is numbered and that an arrow indicates the direction. It allows you to learn how to trace each stroke in a specific order to complete a character.
Although the kids at Fun Educational Apps are not learning Chinese, one of them has always been interested by the look and sounds of the Chinese language. He was our tester and really enjoyed it. He managed to learn how to write some characters and also learned how to say some words since each time a character is displayed; you can listen to its audio sound - note that the quality of the audio could be improved but still satisfactory. Also, he thought that the instructions were easy to follow and liked that each line was numbered. You can trace with your finger or a stylus… we used both but the preference goes to the stylus!
Easy Chinese – I Write Chinese is multilingual – English – French – Spanish … so in addition to just learning Chinese your kids can learn the equivalent vocabulary in another language!
Overall, Easy Chinese – I Write Chinese is very easy to use. It allows you or your kids to learn the basics in Chinese Writing technique, how does it sound and its translation in 3 languages. If you or your kids are starting Chinese, it is a learning app that can really help you.
