At Fun Educational Apps we have been using various writing apps but were very happy to discover Textkraft English, a smart writing tool for iPad very useful for you or your kids for school project writing.
Textkraft English is a feature-rich word processor for iPad that enables you to make the writing process faster and easier. It offers all the basics functions of a word processor plus some cool features.
Start writing and for each word you can have access to a dynamic and sensitive aid. What it means is that under your text you will find a selection of words highlighted with different colours. Green means your word is correct, red it cannot be found in the dictionary, yellow is for synonyms, blue is for word extension. So there you are no need to carry a dictionary or thesaurus, or switch from one app to the other, simply tap on the highlighted word to check it or insert it in your text.
Textkraft directly links to various online-dictionaries and Wikipedia making your research a lot faster. Tap on the icon, look up the word, tap done and you are back to your writing.
Textkraft allows you to have 5 documents open at the same time. No need to save and switch from one document to the other, all are available with a simple tap. The great part is each time you are ready, you will start exactly where you left it. If you need to write a certain length, select your text and you will know exactly how many words, character, and the date and time it was created … Some vey useful features.
Finally once your writing is finished you can export your text to email (as an attachment or as the body of your email), other word processors such as Pages, DropBox to synchronize on all your devices or print via AirPrint™.

Textkraft is simply a very useful smart word processor. It offers many features that will help and support your writing. The colour codes features for each word is great. It can be used as a spell check, grammar check, research tool and dictionary. All functions are easy to use and access and we really like the fact that you can switch from Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Oxford Dictionaries or the Online Etymology Dictionary just with a tap. There is no need to close and switch from one app to the other it’s all there!
I enjoyed using it for my own writing and thought it would be very useful for the kids to give it a try. My oldest kid has dyslexia and finding great writing tools apps that can help with his spelling is always useful. Well, he tried and found it very helpful. It allowed him to type his words, self-correct and select the right word without having to always double check with another member of the family. Textkraft helped him to gain confidence and autonomy and he will for sure use it more and more.
Overall, Textkraft English is a top writing tool for iPad. It is easy to use and offers many top features. Our favourite is the text help with colour coded. It helps coordinate writing and research and allows you to work on 5 separate documents. It can be a great support for all grown up but also a great tool if your teens or tweens have difficulty writing. As a personal experience it has help my son with dyslexia where the smart features identify the right words, just the way you pronounce them. For all these great functions and a very affordable price for an app that offers text prediction, Textkraft is moving up to Fun Educational Apps Top Favourite.
