Multiplying Acorns: Top Math app … Now part of Fun Educational Top Favorites!
What is the app about?
Multiplication Acorns HD is a very engaging math app that supports your kids learning. As with other apps from The Tasty Math Facts series, it uses fun food items in a highly intuitive, interactive learning experience to develop a solid understanding of basic math facts!
When starting the app, children will see an interactive calculator. First tap on a number and watch. If for example your kids selected 5, they will see 5 squirrels appear on the screen. Then enter the second number... Let's say 3... Each squirrel will release that number of acorn. In our example, kids will visualize 5 sets of 3 acorns each.
The squirrels then disappear leaving just the acorns (the answer!) on the screen.
Multiplying Acorns then offers 2 ways to get the answer:
First - Count the number of acorns, one at a time. Each time kids tap on an acorn; it pops open, great way to check that all of them have been counted. Then 3 possible answers will display.
Second - Skip the counting process, tap on the equal sign and 3 possible answers will display!
Tap on the answer and if it’s correct, the acorns will change into coins. One coin will automatically enter a slot on the calculator … fun for the kids, but a great way for parents to follow up on their kid’s progress. In fact, each coin adds up to your kids statistics!
Note, kids can also play with the acorn or the coins, simply drag them on screen to seen them roll or bounce!
What Fun Educational Apps Liked:
Multiplying Acorns HD offers a fun, interactive and very engaging approach for kids to learn and practice times table. It does not offer a pre-set environment but instead encourages kids to take an active role in learning. Fun Educational Apps like the idea of the “learning calculator” where kids can decide which number to enter, play around and be able to get both visuals and audio support.
A top quality app that offers stunning, realistic and physics enabled 3D visuals that make learning fun, and entertaining. The idea of using 2 different visuals to represent the 2 numbers is a great support for kids and contributes to a better understanding of the multiplication concept. Kids at Fun Educational Apps think that it is pretty cool that the squirrels’ disappear leaving just the acorn, the answer, on the screen!
We also liked that it combines audio and visuals, i.e. - each time kids tap on a number or operation a computerized voice says it out loud. The only suggestion we have is when counting the acorn it would be great to have the voice counting as well or displaying the numbers.
Other great features, but for parents this time, are that the app allows you to monitor your kids trophies, number of correct and incorrect answers and progress and if you have more than one …you can enter up to 3 kids.
Overall, Multiplying Acorns HD is another top fun educational app joining our top Favorite. It is very well designed, highly interactive and engaging. It offers a unique hands-on approach that truly helps and support independent learning.
