Discover Art History – Art Collector is a fun educational game app for iPad. It offers an original and unique concept that will get kids to discover art in a fun way. The goal is to collect as many art work as possible from the prehistoric period through the early 20th century. Discover and learn via multiple choice questions and great image puzzles to build up your collection and be ready for the grand opening.
Getting kids to discover art is not always easy. Either you go to museums to view exhibitions, you provide books and various publications or you search via internet and hope they will get the hang of it. Now, thanks to KidSpring, your kids can discover and learn about some of the best known art pieces in history via a fun interactive learning game on the iPad.
With Discover Art History – Art Collector your kids need to get ready for the grand opening of their very own art gallery. They simply need to collect as many pieces of art as possible. Children (and grown up) will explore 13 various artistic periods covering art from:
Prehistoric and Ancient Near East, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Etruscan and Roman, Early Christian and Byzantine, Early Medieval, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, 18 Century, 19 Century to early 20thCentury.
When starting, kids will need to tap on “Art Collector”. From there they can decide which period to explore. Select a period, answer the questions and solve the image based puzzles where the images need to be put together one tile at a time forcing kids to visually inspect every detailed element of the work of art, giving them the opportunity to look and absorb the piece like never before.
If answers to the quiz are correct, you get a gold star and the piece is added to the collection. If the Answer is incorrect, check the answer, learn and hope you get better luck next time. Once your kids have collected some art pieces, they can then have access to the gallery and be able to view each oeuvre.
What Fun Educational Apps Liked
It is not too often that we see art as part of kids’ apps and we were delighted to find Discover Art History - Art Collector. KidSpring has done a really nice work in integrating thousands of years of art into one app.
The kids at Fun Educational Apps like art, but are no fanatics of museums! I was really wondering how they would welcome such an app. Well, it was a great experience and they played and learned a lot. Their favourite art was the Egyptian, Greek and Roman ones, as they have been learning about it at school.
Some questions are tricky and you will probably need to revisit several time before getting the gold star. It depends on your knowledge but the more you play, the more you learn. The app contains loads of info and interesting facts. The concept and design made my kids wanting to learn more and after a while managed to get a few rooms ready and complete for the opening.
Discover Art History - Art Collector offers great educational value and is aimed at kids 9 to 13, but you may want to give it a go yourself! It can be used at home, in the classroom or as a complement to their study.
We like the facts that it gives kids a chance to start exploring the world of art period by period. Covering several millennium of precious art in one app is an art by itself. For sure, the most knowledgeable amongst us might find that their favourite pieces are missing, but overall it is a wonderful introduction to art, a way to get exposed to the various periods via playful interaction.
Fun Educational Apps liked the originality of the subject, the concept of the app, all wrapped in a great fun, entertaining game play with a classical music background! And you guessed right, we are adding it to our Fun educational Apps favourites list.
If you are an art lover, and want your kids to start discovering some the major world known art pieces, then download now.
Discover Art History - Art Collector is available for download via the iTunes App Store.
