Innovative, fun, entertaining, Spot the Dot simply has all the component of a top of the art app for kids. A vibrant and colorful “game book” app that will engage, captivate and reinforce the learning of shapes and colors for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Don’t have it yet … then you must check it out.
Ruckus Media is once more on the go and has just released its newest app in collaboration with pop-up master and best-selling children’s author, David A. Carter. When Ruckus Media launched its first app, its founder, Rick Richter said:
“My biggest goal is to have a mom, dad, or care giver, give a child an iPad or iPhone with complete confidence that he or she will be entertained and satisfied with our apps.”
Well we think that Spot the Dot is spot on! It is dynamic, eye-popping, engaging and stimulating for toddlers and pre-schoolers when learning about colors and shape.
This fun, educational and smart apps offers 10 pages of interactive playspaces. Children are asked to find the DOT and on each page they need to look for a specific colored dot. Each time the dot is hidden and via exploration, interaction, sliding and tapping kids will find it. Difficulty increases progressively page after page. The last pages require concentration, memory and speed.
Go over each page and once the book is finished, toddlers and pre-schoolers can revisit and play again with each activity. Note, once you restart the app, the dots will be in different places, so each time it is a new challenge.
As usual, educational apps help your children to learn and explore but we strongly advise that you go over the app with your toddler or pre-schooler at least the first time. With Spot the Dot, you can expand the learning experience in many different ways by asking questions to your kids.
What did Fun Educational Like?
Spot the Dot is a fun interactive and progressive app that uses all the touchscreen abilities of the iPad. We loved the way it combined sounds, music, graphics and animation, making each page unique. Each activity stimulates various senses and reinforces eyes and hand coordination as well as memory and observation.
We feel that Spot the Dot has captured the spirit of Mr Carter creativity but for those familiar with his work, note that the app is not intended to show his amazing three dimensional pop-up books. It is more like an introduction to his work based on the use of colors and patterns. And who knows, with the evolution of technology , Mr Carter vision and Ruckus Media desire to create amazing apps … we hope we will see more of Mr Carter genius on the iPad!
Overall, Fun Educational Apps really liked the various puzzles and the use of bright colours, patterns and shapes. The app is original, innovative and can be quite challenging for the little ones. As with most educational apps, it is best if you go over the app with your toddler or pre-schooler. Spot the Dot offers many opportunities to discuss colours and shapes and best of all, Spot the Dot allows you to have a great time together.
Spot the Dot is another great app joining Fun Educational Apps favourite list.
