Turning your kids’ iPod Touch or your iPhone into a fun educational learning centre is easy.
While reading, playing or doing activities with the kids it happen quite often that we encounter new words. Before bed time we read stories. Books are good to develop their vocabulary and their imagination. While reading, we often discover new words and the kids ask for the meaning of a word. Most of the time I can manage to give them a definition. With harder words, we used to struggle and must admit that quite often we just moved on instead of getting the dictionary and looking up for the word.
Being in the middle of a captivating story, it is not always easy to stop, go get the dictionary and look up for the word. I felt that the kids were missing on something. I realize that their iPod was always in their bedroom at bed time, they use it as an alarm clock. So few months ago, as part of my goal to turn their iPod into a Fun Educational Games Center, I decided to download some dictionary apps.
Now, as usual we go on reading but when we find a new word, we check it directly on the iPod. It is fun, quick and easy. Also great with tricky word, at a push of a button you can have the voice pronunciation. Kids love it and looking up new words is now great fun. There is no more complain, no more disruption to the story we look it up and move on. It just changed the way they look at a dictionary. It is no more this enormous book that requires time, it is now a very enjoyable experience. The iPod is seen not only as a fun gaming tool but also as Fun Educational Games Center.
